NEW DELHI: Uttarakhand Malayali Samajam President Dinesh confirmed the safety of all 28 Malayalees trapped in the cloudburst-affected tourist hotspot. Official message reached the families of all the 28 Malayalees, confirming their safety.

The Malayali tourists were trapped in Gangotri, four kilometres from the accident site. Kochi natives Narayanan Nair and Sridevi Pillai are among them. A group of 28 people was part of the group. The Malayali Samajam President said that it would be impossible for the Malayali tourists at present to get back to the city through roads.

Meanwhile, rescue operations in the Dharali village of Uttarakhand are facing severe challenges due to adverse weather conditions. The roads leading to the disaster site have also been damaged, making it difficult for rescue workers to reach the site. Colonel Harsh Vardhan, who is leading the rescue operations, is clueless on the exact number of people trapped inside the debris.
