THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After dramatic moves, Nidheesh’s decision to conduct the funeral of Vipanchika's baby Vaibhavi in Sharjah, was stopped. Nidheesh had sent a message to Vipanchika's relative, saying that the baby’s funeral is being held in Sharjah and if they want could attend. He had also clarified that the procedures have been completed and is receiving the baby’s body.
However, after various requests for help failed, Vipanchika's lawyer Manoj Kumar, sought help from former MoS for External Affairs V Muraleedharan. Muraleedharan immediately contacted the Indian Consul General in Dubai. The consulate informed Muraleedharan that Nidheesh, as husband and father, had the legal right to receive the bodies.
Muraleedharan convinced the consulate officials that Vipanchika had filed for a divorce. He requested to inform this to the Dubai police. Following this, the Indian consulate took swift action. By the time the consulate officials informed the police, the ambulance had left with the baby's body.
The police that followed stopped the ambulance and sent the body back to the mortuary. V Muraleedharan justified the demand of Vipanchika's family to bring the body back to their hometown for burial and said that he would stand with them.
