THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rajya Sabha MP AA Rahim appeared on stage along with rapper Vedan during a programme held recently at Venjarammoodu in Thiruvananthapuram district. He was welcomed with loud applause from the audience. Some in the crowd also called on Rahim to sing.
Speaking on stage, Rahim said he felt he needed to attend Vedan’s programme. He said he had come from Bengaluru, where around 200 houses were demolished using bulldozers, leaving thousands of people on the streets. “I am coming here after visiting that place,” he said.
Rahim said Vedan becomes the voice of those who are silenced when their homes are demolished. “When bulldozers move in, many people are left without a voice. Vedan sings for them. That is why I felt compelled to be here. I feel proud to stand with Vedan in my hometown,” he said.
