
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a possibility of very heavy rains in the state today. Orange alert has been issued in Idukki. A possibility of very heavy rains in isolated places has been predicted. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) defines very heavy rainfall as 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain received in 24 hours.
A yellow alert has also been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam today. The IMD defines heavy rain (ISOL H) as 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain received in an hour. Rains with thunderstorms are expected.
In the next three hours, there is a possibility of moderate rains with thunderstorms and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 kmph in isolated places in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam. The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in other districts.
The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of rain with thundershowers at isolated places in Kerala from today to day after tomorrow. A yellow alert has been declared in Thrissur, Malappuram and Wayanad tomorrow.
