PALAKKAD: Congress leadership is upset over the Palakkad Municipality councillors meeting Rahul Mamkootathil after their victory in the local body elections. Two councillors of the municipality visited the MLA office on Sunday and met Rahul. A section of the party members said that it was a violation of the ban. Councillors Prasobh and Vipin, meanwhile, justified their visit and said there was no wrong in meeting an elected MLA.

Following the UDF's terrific performance in the local body polls, Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil chose to respond on Facebook, which gained big attention.

“People here are literate. No matter how much noise is made, they will hear the truth,” wrote Rahul Mamkootathil.

Rahul Mamkootathil, who was expelled from the party after getting mired in a series of sexual assault cases, took 15 days to come out of his hiding.
