Water levels rise dangerously, no entry or crossing allowed in these rivers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A yellow alert has been declared for the Vamanapuram river (Mylamoodu station) and the Karamana river (Vellayikkadavu station) in Thiruvananthapuram due to the dangerous rise in water levels. People living along the riverbanks have been strictly advised not to enter or cross the rivers under any circumstances.

People living along the riverbanks are urged to stay alert and if necessary, move to safer locations as per the directions of the authorities. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram and three other districts due to heavy rain.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the alert predicting isolated very heavy rainfall in these districts. According to the IMD, very heavy rainfall refers to rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm within 24 hours.
