Weather in Kerala to change drastically in coming days, to become stronger from July 2 onwards

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Taking into account the possibility of heavy rain in the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in various districts in the coming days. Heavy rain is defined as a situation where rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is expected in 24 hours.

The IMD has informed that there is a possibility of rain at isolated places in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod in the next three hours. Meanwhile, the IMD has also clarified that there will be no restriction on fishing on the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts today.


Strong winds gusting up to 45 to 55 kmph, gusting up to 65 kmph at times, are also likely over the west-central Arabian Sea, adjoining east-central Arabian Sea, northeast Arabian Sea, northwest Arabian Sea, northern parts of southwest Arabian Sea, south Tamil Nadu coast, Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Kanyakumari coast.
