THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The results of the local body elections were completely unexpected, said CPI State Secretary Binoy Viswam. Binoy Viswam said they were expecting a resounding victory, as the achievements of the LDF government were known to all. However, Viswam admitted that the results were a setback.

Binoy Viswam:

“Defeat is not new to the Communist Party. Everything is not over with a defeat. It is a warning given by the people. The Communist Party consider the people as the greatest of all.

We will accept the people's decision with our heads down. We will ask ourselves about the trend going against us. The next mission is to correct the wrongs. We have that vigour and energy to work again, which no party can claim. We will bounce back from the setback. The third term for LDF is certain. As part of the mission, the party has planned agitations, strikes, and organisational activities.

The BJP government destroyed the employment guarantee scheme that brought hope to rural lives. The LDF government has made its stance clear, and there will be no compromise on those who looted gold from Sabarimala. The culprits should be punished.'
