NEW DELHI: AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal said that Congress MPs have been directed to urgently reach Delhi and attend the Parliament session, as the FCRA Amendment Bill is being introduced.

He strongly criticised the bill, calling it unconstitutional. “This is a completely unconstitutional law. The central government is trying to introduce this bill in Parliament at a time when MPs from states facing Assembly elections are busy with campaigning. This bill will destroy NGOs and organisations, particularly those run by minority communities. We will not allow this bill to be passed under any circumstances. We will hold a protest outside Parliament at 10:30 AM against this bill,” Venugopal said.

“The Prime Minister and the BJP are trying to divide people and create conflict among them. The FCRA Amendment Bill is the latest example of this. This law hangs like a sword over minority groups. It is a hidden attempt to control and intimidate communities, including Christian institutions, especially in Kerala,” he said.

Venugopal added that the bill includes strict provisions that could tighten control over voluntary organisations and institutions engaged in social service.
