'Will proceed with strict action against lead actor'; AMMA offers support to Vincy Aloshious

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actress Vincy Sony Aloshious received the backing from the film star organisation AMMA after she made an exposé about a lead actor’s drug usage on a film set.

An ad hoc committee met today to discuss the issue and promised action against the lead actor if Vincy is ready to reveal the actor’s name covertly.

I said earlier that I would not do a film with people who use drugs. Now, I have decided to clarify the issue after reading a few comments that came up for the post. When I read the comments, I realised that people have different interpretations of the issue.

When I gave that statement about drugs, yes, I had my reasons. A lead actor under the influence of drugs misbehaved with me and made lewd comments. It was at a movie set. I had a wardrobe malfunction and wanted to change the attire. The actor spotting this said he would accompany me to the changing room. I was taken aback as he made this comment in front of all. It was difficult to cope with him for the rest of the movie af ter this uncouth incident.

In another scene, the actor spat out some white powder. From all this, it is evident that drug usage is rampant in the industry. They use drugs and become a nuisance to others. It eventually turns out to be horrible for people like us. The director of the film even had a talk with the actor after learning about my situation.

Crew members somehow helped me stay comfortable and complete the shooting. The movie turned out to be a good one, but my experience was nothing short of horrible. I made the decision not to work with drug users in the cinema after the incident.

I don’t have anything to reply to the naysayers on social media. Let them continue with their jibes. There is no rescinding my decision.
