PALAKKAD: Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, who is facing sexual harassment allegations, arrived at his MLA office in Palakkad after 38 days. He arrived at the MLA office despite protests by BJP workers earlier in the day. By the time Rahul reached, the situation had calmed down, and he interacted with people waiting at the office.
Speaking to the media, Rahul said he would respond in detail later. “I have spoken before, and I will talk about the remaining matters as well. The news is going beyond what I have said. I do not see protests in a negative way,” he said. Rahul also confirmed that he would stay in the constituency and attend official programs.
Rahul Mamkootathil left his home in Adoor early in the morning and first visited the house of a late Congress leader in Palakkad to offer condolences. Later, around 4 pm, he reached his MLA office. His car was driven by Nikhil Kannadi, KSU Palakkad district president. KPCC executive member C Chandran and Youth Congress district president Jayaghosh accompanied him.
With local body elections approaching, many Congress leaders had urged Rahul to be more active in the constituency. Opposition leader VD Satheesan also did not object to Rahul’s return to Palakkad.
