THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the state government is committed to holding the expatriates close. He was inaugurating NoRKA Care, the comprehensive health accident insurance scheme implemented by the government for expatriates through Norka Roots.
"NoRKA Care is the first scheme in the country to be implemented exclusively for expatriates. Through the scheme with low premium rates, cashless treatment will be available in 16,000 hospitals in the country, including 500 hospitals in the state. Treatment facilities will also be provided in hospitals in GCC countries in the coming years. The allocation for expatriate welfare activities has now increased to Rs 150 crore from Rs 25 crore. The number of schemes implemented has been increased from 13 to 20. Seven standing committees have been formed to implement the demands raised in the Loka Kerala Sabha. The Loka Kerala Sabha secretariat is evaluating it properly," the Chief Minister said.
Minister KN Balagopal presided over the meeting. He said that Kerala has created a new history in the world through the health insurance scheme implemented for expatriates.
The e-card for the expatriate family was handed over by Norka Roots Resident Vice Chairman P Sreeramakrishnan.
