Witchcraft to get rid of bad dreams; man arrested for sexually abusing student during puja

KOZHIKODE: A man has been arrested for sexually abusing a student under the guise of witchcraft. The arrested person has been identified as Kunjumon (42), who lives in Kunnathumala in Parambikkadavu, Kozhikode. He is a native of Muttil in Wayanad.

The student, along with her mother, had gone to Kunjumon's house in Parambikkadavu seeking help to stop her from having bad dreams. The accused then instructed her to perform a puja. When the girl arrived at his house with the items for the puja, Kunjumon sexually assaulted her and threatened her, saying he had clicked her nude photos.

Later, while the victim was returning to college after her vacation, the accused followed her, threatened her again and took her to a lodge where he assaulted her once again. Following this, the student lodged a complaint with the police.

Based on the victim's complaint, the Chevayoor police registered a case and arrested the accused. The accused has been presented before the court.
