THRISSUR: In a major breach of the temple rules, a woman entered the sanctum sanctorum of the revered Vadakkumnathan Temple in Thrissur on Tuesday. The incident took place during the early hours of today morning. The chief priest was left perplexed when he saw a woman standing in the innermost sanctum of the temple. He immediately informed the police.

The police including women officials reached the temple and took the offender to the station. Holy water was sprinkled across the temple for purification rituals following the breach. It is reported that the woman reached inside the temple after paying money at the counter for an offering. Cochin Devaswom Board President K Raveendran denied any conspiracy in the incident.

A report will be filed after conducting a thorough investigation. Dr. Balasubrahmanyam, a native of Thrissur, has sent a complaint to the Devaswom Minister regarding the incident.

It is rumoured that the woman who entered the temple was suffering from mental imbalance.
