Woman set ablaze by friend in Kannur succumbs to burns 

KANNUR: A woman, who suffered grievous burns after being set ablaze by her friend in Kuttiattoor, succumbed to her injuries. The dead is Praveena (39), wife of Ajeesh of Karaprath House in Uruvachal. She died Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College. Her friend Jijesh reached her house and doused petrol on her last afternoon. Jijesh of Peruvalathuparamba Kuttav also suffered burns.

The incident happened at her rented house where she was staying with her in-laws Achuthan and Susheela and daughter Sivada. Ajeesh is abroad. Jijesh came asking for water and then entered the kitchen and doused petrol on her. The neighbours who rushed to the spot hearing the screams saw the two with burns in the work area. After setting her ablaze, he may have tried to end his life. The local residents rushed the two to the hospital.
