THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The dispute over selecting a new state president of the Youth Congress is getting worse. Senior leaders are not ready to compromise on their nominees. Meanwhile, a section of the Youth Congress alleged that Abin Varkey backstabbed Rahul Mamkootathil from behind for political brownies. Meanwhile, some others called it a blame game after Abin’s chances to take the helm of Youth Congress appeared clear.

Social media and WhatsApp groups are now rampant with posts tarnishing Abin, which many allege to be the handiwork of Rahul’s supporters. There is also opposition to KC Venugopal's move to make Binu Chulliyil the state president. A section says that the decision to appoint Binu Chulliyil, who did not contest the elections and is a member of the office bearers, will not be accepted.

The decision to appoint KM Abhijith also faced opposition. There is also a move to appoint Adv. J S Akhil to the post. Meanwhile, there is a demand within the party to resolve the current embarrassment by appointing a woman as the state president.
