Woman, two children drown in pond near Parappur Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: A woman and her two children drowned while bathing in a pond in Parappur. Sainaba, a native of Veenalukkal, and her children, Fatima Farseela and Ashiq, died tragically in the incident.

The incident took place at around 2:45 pm today. The three had gone into the pond to wash their clothes and bathe. Locals said that none of the three knew how to swim.

Kannur native Sainaba, a single parent, worked as a domestic help and looked after the family. Fatima Farseela was a 12th-grade student of Parappur IUHSS.

A migrant worker who was passing by the road near 4:30 a.m. found Fathima Farseela dead in the pond. As per the information provided by him, the bodies of Sainaba and her son Ashiq were also found in the pond. Vengara police reached the spot and shifted the body to Tirurangadi Taluk Hospital.
