Woman, who offered to breastfeed orphaned babies, cheated in Wayanad

WAYANAD: People in Kerala and outside are going out of their way to help the landslide victims in Wayanad. Many came forward with financial support and consent to adopt children through social media. The message of Sajin Parekkara, a native of Upputhura in Idukki, had gone viral.

Sajin’s message asked to contact them if breastmilk is needed for orphaned babies. My wife is ready to breastfeed. When this message went viral, they received a call. Sajin with his wife Bhavana and two children left Upputhura for Wayanad in their pick-up van. However, they travelled 350 kms and reached Meppadi, and tried to contact the caller. Surprisingly, the person who called Sajin was not available, Sajin told Kerala Kaumudi Online.

The couple then went to the relief camps in Wayanad and enquired. As four mothers who were undergoing treatment for injuries had recovered, they said they would breastfeed their children. Storing breast milk was also not practical as they were in relief camps. Later came to know through health workers that there was a baby at WIMS Hospital. Will know by evening whether this baby needs breast milk. So, Sajin and his family are still in Meppadi. Travelled so far and visited every camp. Sajin said they will return home only after helping as much as they can.

Sajin and his family climbed the pass at night with their small children. Sajin said that his youngest baby developed an allergy due to climate change. Sajin said even if the situation is difficult, if possible, will help at least one child.
