Yogam has no communal side; I will speak out on social truths: Vellappally

ALAPPUZHA: SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan said that the SNDP Yogam is not communal and that he is only openly speaking about social truths. He added that the SNDP will never exploit religious sentiments by inciting them. He was speaking at the inauguration of the merit evening and talent recognition ceremony organized by SNDP Yogam Ambalapuzha Union at Thumboli SN Gurumandira Auditorium.

"SNDP was the first to come forward when the Babri Masjid was demolished. When the demand for a Christian church was raised in Nilakkal, only the SNDP passed a resolution in favour. Despite speaking out for everyone, the Ezhava community is not getting anything. That's when I openly say many things. I'm being portrayed as a communalist because of that," said Vellappally Natesan.

"Shouldn't the downtrodden also be in positions of power? I am asking for social justice. I spoke for the community by doing justice to the chair I was sitting on. There is no Ezhava in a position of power in any of the universities in Kerala. Among the nine MPs in the state, there is not a single backward or Scheduled Caste person. Such people were not even nominated. The Muslim League is a communal group spewing venom," accused Vellappally Natesan.
