PALAKKAD: Congress leader Jyothi Kumar Chamakkala trolled LDF independent candidate Dr P Sarin, who came third in the Palakkad by-elections. The troll pointed the incident where Sarin responded to the media that he would first come to the UDF office after winning Palakkad election. Jyothi Kumar Chamakkala posted on Facebook trolling, 'Waiting for P Sarin who informed to reach UDF Central Election Committee office immediately after winning Palakkad'.
Sarin, convenor of Congress' digital media cell, left the party for not considering him as the candidate in Palakkad. He resigned publicly responding to Rahul's candidature. He later held discussions with the CPM and contested as an independent candidate of the LDF.
Meantime, Rahul got 58,244 votes in Palakkad. NDA candidate C Krishna Kumar got 39,529 votes and LDF candidate Dr P Sarin got 37,348 votes. LDF has managed to get more votes than last time despite being in the third position. Rahul has made a clear victory in the Palakkad Municipal Corporation and three panchayats.
Rahul surged ahead after storming forts in Palakkad Municipal Corporation which is the stronghold of BJP. The Palakkad municipal council, which had given the lead to the BJP till the last Lok Sabha elections, voted in favor of the Congress this time. By the time the Congress reached Pirayiri, the lead had crossed 10,000.
