KANNUR: Flex boards backing opposition leader V D Satheesan have surfaced in Mattannur with the slogan ‘Let the leader who led the battle now lead the state.’ The boards appeared in the name of Congress activists in Mattannur. The flex was installed last night, just a day before the election results is to be declared.
Flex boards had earlier appeared in Sreekandapuram as well, greeting ‘Chief Minister-designate V D Satheesan.’ These were installed in the name of Kottoorvayal Congress Committee, believed to be a booth-level committee active during the elections. However, the party leadership has not officially taken responsibility for installing the flex boards.
Meantime, intense lobbying and internal discussions continue within the Congress over the chief ministerial candidate. Names like V D Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, and K C Venugopal are being actively considered. The party high command has reportedly expressed concern that these discussions are going beyond limits. Despite a firm stand and warnings from Rahul Gandhi, the controversies and speculations show no signs of easing.
