ALAPPUZHA: Posters have appeared against former minister G. Sudhakaran following his announcement that he will contest as an independent candidate in the Ambalappuzha constituency. The posters, featuring slogans such as "No forgiveness for the class traitor" and "No vote," were found pasted on the walls of the CPI(M) Ambalappuzha Area Committee office. Reports indicate that party workers put up the posters while chanting "Martyrs Zindabad."
The CPI(M) has decided to launch an extensive campaign against Sudhakaran in the coming days. Ambalappuzha Area Committee Secretary Shyamji stated that explanatory meetings and protest programs would commence tomorrow.
Earlier, CPI(M) Alappuzha District Secretary R. Nassar told a press conference that the party had accorded Sudhakaran more consideration than any other leader. Nassar clarified that Sudhakaran was moved from the State Committee to the District Committee solely due to the party's age limit policy (75-year rule), yet he allegedly failed to attend any district committee meetings.
"We do not view Comrade Sudhakaran as merely a senior leader. As the brother of a martyr, we have given him more consideration than others. There has been no neglect. He was excluded from the State Committee only because he is over 75 years old," Nassar explained. These developments follow Sudhakaran’s formal announcement this morning that he would enter the fray as an independent candidate.
