THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Confusion in the UDF over the League leadership's stand regarding the inclusion of League MLA P Abdul Hameed in the Kerala Bank Board of Directors.
A member of the League has been included in the CPM-led Kerala Bank Board of Management with the party's permission amid the controversies surrounding the CPM's invitation to the League for the Palestine Solidarity Rally. Although the parties including the Congress do not agree with this, they are of the position that it should not be discussed at present. After nominating Vallikkunnu MLA and League Malappuram district general secretary Abdul Hameed to the governing body, the League leadership held discussions with UDF convener MM Hassan. Many constituent parties are of the opinion that the front should meet and discuss the issue.
There is a difference of opinion among the league leadership as well on the issue. The fact that the constituent party of the UDF is in the Kerala Bank management committee while the protest against scams in the co-operative sector is taking place is troubling the local leaderships.
"There has been no collective deliberation in the UDF. It is a party-level decision of the League
-Mons Joseph, Kerala Congress. - Joseph
"They should introspect whether the league should be held responsible for the loot that took place in the cooperative sector including Karuvannoor."
- Shibu Baby John

"Membership of the governing body is an internal matter of the league. This will have to be discussed by the UDF.'
