THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that the 2024 Lok Sabha election result is a setback for the BJP's attempts to subvert democracy and constitutional values. On his Facebook page, Pinarayi wrote that the election result, in which the BJP lost its majority in the country, made it clear that people of the country have rejected the campaigns carried out with the support of administrative systems, central agencies and money.
'The people of India have destroyed the BJP's illusion that it can safely move forward by raising communalism and sectarianism and dividing the people. In Kerala, LDF did not get the expected victory. This result is almost similar to the result in 2019. The state government will function more effectively by accepting the people's verdict, examining it deeply and making necessary corrections. Deficiencies will be identified and corrected. We will also strengthen efforts to counter organized propaganda against the government and remove misconceptions among the people,' the CM wrote.
'The Left Front is seriously looking into the victory achieved by the BJP in Thrissur. The fact that the BJP won a Lok Sabha constituency for the first time in our state, which is a model of democracy and secularism, needs to be critically evaluated
All secular and democratic believers should be ready for that. The Left Democratic Front will move forward by fulfilling that responsibility and working with dedication for secular values,' the CM wrote.
'Thanking all those who worked for and stood by the Left Democratic Front. Salute to the voters across the country who voted against the BJP with the firm stand that democracy should be preserved,' he added.
