IDUKKI: The postmortem of the two bodies found buried in Nedumkandam will be completed today. The human remains unearthed are that of Marykutty (70) of Panchady and her son Reji (48). The postmortem is being conducted at Idukki Medical College. The DNA testing of the bodies will also be conducted today. It is believed that the bodies are two weeks old. They are completely decomposed. The police had stated that the cause of death will be clear only after receiving the postmortem report.

Meantime, the police will reinvestigate the missing case of the elderly woman's husband. Marykutty's husband, Pastor Mathew, had been missing since May 9, 2018. Marykutty, who became ill, suffered a stroke three years ago and is bedridden. Marykutty was staying with her sons Reji and Saji in the house. The locals said the two unmarried brothers used to fight at home after consuming alcohol. They did not even allow Marykutty’s two daughters to see their mother.

The police have started a search for her younger son Saji (43), who has gone missing. Six teams led by Kattappana DySP Shajan are conducting the investigation on the instructions of district police chief K M Sabu Mathew to catch Saji. His phone is switched off.
