THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president K Sudhakaran alleged that the government is introducing a new bill in the appointment of the vice-chancellor to interfere in university administration and facilitate back-door appointments. He also said that the intention behind the government's new move on the recommendation of the Higher Education Reforms Commission is questionable.
"The wives and relatives of CPM leaders who do not even have basic qualifications are being appointed by leaving out talented and capable people. Kerala universities are finding themselves out of the list of leading universities in the country as a result of such political teacher appointments. Therefore, the number of students going outside the state for higher education is increasing day by day," Sudhakaran said.
"The effectiveness of higher education will become clearer if we look at the qualifications of the wives of some of the comrades who have recently been appointed as professors in universities. The appointment of Minister P Rajeev's wife in Cochin University, the appointment of former MP PK Biju's wife in Kerala University, the appointment of Speaker MB Rajesh's wife in Sanskrit University, the move to appoint AN Shamseer's wife in Calicut University and the list goes on. The government is making a deliberate move to introduce the bill in the appointment of the vice-chancellor so as to continue with such illegal appointments and make sure that these appointments will not be questioned," Sudhakaran added.
