Prem Kumar to be chief guest at Congress event; organisers release poster

KOTTAYAM: As rumours of Premkumar joining the Congress are growing, there are reports that the former State Chalachitra Academy chairman will be the chief guest at a Congress event. It is reported that Premkumar will participate in the KPCC Cultural Committee event to be held in Kottayam tomorrow. The event will be held at the Nagampadam Indoor Stadium tomorrow evening.

AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal MP will inaugurate the function. The organizers have released a poster with Premkumar's picture. The office bearers of the Cultural Committee have also announced that Premkumar will participate in the programme. However, Premkumar has not yet responded to the issue.

KC Venugopal had spoken to Premkumar on the phone. Some leaders in the district also spoke in person. It is reported that KC Venugopal had informed him that he would be given due consideration if he joined the party. Premkumar had earlier responded by saying, "I cannot say today what will happen tomorrow."

"I cannot work in a political party. I do not want to stay within the framework of a party. I want to work independently. My entire family, including my father, are Congress members. I have never joined the CPM. I am a firm believer in God. I have to come to some positions. I have not yet said whether I will join the Congress," the former State Chalachitra Academy chairman told the media.
