Started planning before others: RSS's strategies that gifted Thiruvananthapuram to NDA

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It was the biggest dream of the NDA front in the capital to have a BJP mayor to receive the Indian Prime Minister when he lands in Thiruvananthapuram. Even when the LDF and UDF mocked it as a dream that would never come true, the NDA continued to work for it without giving up. Just as the tortoise won in the story of the tortoise and the rabbit, the NDA finally made that dream a reality. It was the systematic work of the RSS that led the NDA to such a great victory. The RSS had its involvement even in the selection of candidates. The selection of candidates was based only on victory chances without considering anything else. The seats were given to sitting councilors based on their performance alone.

The RSS's way is to work patiently and systematically to achieve the goal, no matter what obstacles there are. They carry out their work without creating any kind of fuss. That is what RSS did in connection with the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation elections also. RSS has been working for more than a year to win the corporation.

A page pramukh will take the helm of the activities for the votes of fifty voters on one page of the voters' list. There will be other leaders at the organizational level to control and lead their activities. The page chief will maintain constant contact with the fifty houses. These families will be divided into various categories such as A+, A, B, B+. Confirmed votes fall into the A+ category. The next category includes those votes that could change. The last category includes votes that are sure to be 'not' received, no matter what. There will be no regular visits to the homes of such people. They will be visited only to distribute pamphlets. RSS workers assigned for such activities will not participate in marches, speak at public meetings or talk to the media. Although they are not at the forefront, they will have a very close relationship with the people. Moreover, they will always be there with hope and comfort in everything they do. This trust is what turns into votes for the BJP.

Development committees consisting of BJP, RSS and other group activists and members of supporting organisations decide the important issues to be raised in their respective constituencies. The RSS made the corruption of the governing body in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation its main weapon. Kerala is not short of controversies, but NDA did not address them at all. Although the Rahul Mamkootathil issue was a last-minute weapon, the NDA did not try to take it up. The RSS was behind that also.

While the RSS was carrying out systematic activities for victory, the CPM-led LDF was drunk in overconfidence. They firmly believed that the corporation administration would never be taken away from their hands. They also calculated that people would vote without looking at anything else if they saw the hammer and sickle star. They also tried to divide the existing corporation wards to their advantage, but none of that was of any use. The party didn't act even though the people were vehemently opposed to the mayor's attitude. Or did they pretend not to know even though they knew?
