MALAPPURAM: Syed Sadiqali Shihab Thangal has been chosen as the Muslim League state chief. The decision was taken at the high power committee convened in Panakkad Monday morning. He has been selected as the political affairs committee chairman also. The new chief was selected following the demise of Muslim League state president Hyderali Shihab Thangal. Sadiqali is presently the League Malappuram district president.
Sadiqali has been the state president for some time now due to Thangal’s illness. Sadiqali (55), brother of Hyderali Thangal, is a senior member of the Panakkad family. He has been the district president of Malappuram since 2009. He was the state president of the Youth League from 2000 to 2007.
He served as the state president of Samastha Kerala Sunni Students Federation (SKSSF) for 15 years. The huge rally organised in Kozhikode by Muslim League against handing over Waqf Board appointment to PSC was indirectly transferring power to Sadiqali. The rally was inaugurated by Sadiqali.
