THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KPCC president Sunny Joseph has extended support to VT Balram in connection with the controversial 'Bihar-Bidi' post. Sunny Joseph clarified in a press statement that the party has not taken any action against Balram and that Balram has not stepped down from the post of Chairman of the party's Digital Media Cell. He also alleged that some people are attempting to tarnish Balram's image over the post.
“Balram continues to be in charge of the Digital Media Cell. He has neither resigned nor faced any party action. It was Balram himself who asked for the controversial post to be removed. The Digital Media Cell’s posts are prepared by professionals who support the party. Reorganising the social media wing is already on the party’s agenda,” Sunny Joseph said.
Meanwhile, VT Balram also clarified that he has not stepped down from his role. In a Facebook post, he wrote, 'I, VT Balram, have neither resigned from nor been removed from the position of Chairman of the Digital Media Cell. When it came to my attention that there was a mistake from the team handling the X platform, I intervened organisationally to correct the inappropriate post. The party leadership is well aware of this.'
'As KPCC vice president, managing the social media wing is one of the many responsibilities given to me. However, for months, I have been informing the leadership that I have not been able to find enough time to handle this role effectively. Still, I have not resigned from or been removed from the DMC chairmanship. With the upcoming elections and the KPCC restructuring, changes are expected in the social media wing as well. If there is anything to be communicated in that regard, the party will announce it at the right time,' Balram added.
