THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary M V Govindan visited senior CPM leader and former chief minister V S Achuthanandan at his home. The visit is when the first state committee meeting after the CPM state conference is scheduled to be held at the AKG Center today. After visiting the veteran, M V Govindan wrote on Facebook that VS's political career spanning more than eight decades is also the history of the progressive movement of the working class in Kerala.
VS is the only surviving comrade who led the formation of the CPM. Govindan said that he returned after wishing him good health and happiness. There was an allegation that VS Achuthanandan was removed as an invitee from the CPM state committee. Govindan termed it as baseless.
He explained that VS will continue as a special invitee in the state committee. He explained after the party congress that the list of invitees will be published after the party national conference to be held in Madurai. Govindan visited VS soon after this.
