PARAPPANANGADI: Where there is competitive eating... Bappukoya is ready. No matter who Bappukoya competes against, he will always come back with the cup. The same thing happened in the last competition. 58-year-old Bappukoya, a native of Kodakkad Alinchuvadu, won the first prize of one lakh rupees in a competitive eating contest held in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Bappukoya achieved victory by competing against more than 500 contestants from the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. He finished a total of three cups of biriyani, each holding two kilos of biryani.
Many participants could not even eat two cups of biryani. This auto driver from Kodakkad was once an indomitable star in competitive eating contests organized by local clubs. There is a rumour the local clubs do not include competitive eating in the competitions because they are afraid of Bappukoya. Bappukoya was staying away from competitions for five years. Bappukoya is very happy to win again on debut after a long gap. The streak that started at the age of 22 continues at 58. The competition in Coimbatore was organized by Bobby Chemmannur. Kolakkal Bappukoya, an auto driver from Parappanangadi, has a wife and four sons. His son is a military engineer and others are students.
