NEW DELHI: Job offer for people who can imitate the voice of Hanuman monkey. Salary is Rs 750 per day. It is the Delhi government that is looking for mimics. The mission is to drive away the native monkeys from the assembly premises. The native monkeys are intimidated by the langur or Hanuman monkey. Many institutions in Delhi, which are struggling with a monkey problem, used to raise langurs. The Environment Ministry banned it in 2012. Large cutouts and statues of langurs were put up, but the apes mocked this idea by hanging and swinging from the cutouts.

There was also an incident where monkeys roaming the assembly complex attacked members of parliament. In 2017, a monkey entered the assembly and disrupted the discussion. The appointment of langur mimics began in 2020. The new appointment replaces five people whose contracts expired. Work is eight hours from Monday to Friday. They will be fired if the monkeys continue to harass despite hearing the mimic sounds. They are fined Rs. 1,000 if they do not come to work. There is also insurance coverage.
