IMPHAL: Catholic bishop conference of India has condemned the inexplicable targeting and arson of Christian churches and homes in Manipur riots. In a press release, Mar Andrews Thazhath requested the government to restore peace in the northeastern state.

Three churches were burnt by the rioters. Many Christian families were forced to flee from their homes. The Manipur police also acted late which added to the troubles. Mar Andrews called for the central government to intrude into the matter.

Meanwhile, NORKA will help the Kerala students trapped in the riots. The students will be initially brought to Kolkata after which they will be safely transported to Banglore. Many temples and churches were destroyed in the riots. Currently, section 355 is imposed in Manipur. Retired IPS Kuldeep Singh has been appointed to monitor the development in Manipur while the army warned about the circulation of videos and photos regarding the riots on social media pages.
