KOZHIKODE: “Trailed for six rounds. This is enough, Kerala. Thank you for this sight. It was a pleasant sight to watch the man who made the clarion call to murder Chandrasekharan, calling him a traitor, standing desperate in fear of losing the elections.”

The words written by K.K. Rema on Facebook, tacitly pointing fingers at Pinarayi Vijayan, went viral on social media. Rema put up the post by sharing a picture of TP Chandrasekharan and their young son.

It was on May 4th 2012, that CPM goons murdered Chandrasekharan in Vallikkattu, Vadakara. On May 4th 2026, Chandrasekharan's wife, KK Rema, won again from the Vadakara constituency with a double majority.

The LDF candidate who was defeated by KK Rema this time, M.K. Bhaskaran, is also special. What forced Chandrasekharan to leave CPM and form the RMPI was M.K. Bhaskaran's ascension to the presidency of the Eramala Panchayat. When the party leadership insisted on making Bhaskaran, who was then a Janata Dal leader, the president, saying that it was a two-and-a-half-year deal, Chandrasekharan and his associates opposed it. Eventually, the party split. On Chandrasekharan's martyrdom day, Rema won by a majority of 14,862 votes, defeating Bhaskaran. There is jubilation at the RMP centres in Vadakara.
