Manjeri Majeed, seller of beauty products held, victims were women and youths staying in hostels

KOCHI: The excise arrested a youth, who was selling MDMA under the guise of cosmetics. The Ernakulam excise special squad arrested Rashid Enath (34), a native of Malappuram. The excise took into custody the Swift car he used to smuggle drugs and the two iPhones used for his business.

He was known by a secret code 'Manjeri Majeed' among the customers. He was distributing drugs under the guise of delivering foreign beauty products as per order. Nine grams of MDMA was seized from the car in which he was travelling. The sale of drugs was mainly aimed at young women and youths living in hostels. The accused used to travel to Bengaluru, Mysore and Ooty along with his clients to smuggle large quantities of drugs into Kerala.

Rashid's car proceeding to Kochi from Malappuram with drugs, was chased by the excise team and surrounded at Kaloor Stadium area.

Many people are believed to have bought drugs from him. Excise officials informed that steps will be taken to find the women and men who had fallen into his trap and bring them to the free drug-free treatment centres of excise operating in Ernakulam Kacheripady and Moovattupuzha.

Circle inspector Sajeev S, preventive officer Sathyanarayanan, Manoj N A, intelligence P O Ajith Kumar, CEO of City Metro Shadow N D Tommy, special squad CEOs Anas N U, Sarath Mon P S, James and PJ took the accused into custody. The accused was produced in court and remanded.
