₹3000 demanded as bribe; former village assistant sentenced to two years in prison and half a lakh fine

THRISSUR: Former village assistant who was arrested for accepting bribe was sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.50,000. Chalavara village assistant VJ Wilson was sentenced by Thrissur Vigilance Court. The court has granted him one month's extension to approach the High Court against the verdict.
The incident related to the case took place in 2012. Wilson demanded a bribe of three thousand rupees from an applicant to correct a mistake in his survey number. He was caught by the vigilance while accepting two thousand rupees out of this.
