KOTTAYAM: A youngster who was undergoing treatment for acid attack injuries died on Monday. Pallikathodu native P K Sumit is the deceased. He was 30. It was in Kottayam Manimala that Sumit faced the brutal acid attack.

On the 13th of April, Sumit along with his two roommates took a trip to Ponthan Puzha forest. Here, Sumit was given alcohol by the other two. In the inebriated condition, the two others poured acid over his body. Sumit, who suffered severe burns, died while undergoing treatment at the Kottayam Medical College. Previous enmity is assumed to be the motive behind the attack.

Manimala police arrested Idukki Ayyappancoil native Sabu Devasya and Panapuzha native Praseed for the crime. It was Sabu who took Sumit in a scooter to Manimala bus stand area. From here, both of them took a bus ride to reach the uninhibited Ponthan Puzha forest region. Sumit's face, neck and body were severely burnt by acid. Sabu Devasya had previous enmity with Sumit.

Following the complaint, the Manimala Police registered a case and the investigation team led by District Police Chief G Karthik nabbed the two, who were at large.
