MT's wish will come true; Randamoozham will indeed be made into film, announcement in two months

KOZHIKODE: The renowned novel Randamoozham by legendary writer MT Vasudevan Nair, which was initially planned to be adapted into a film with Mohanlal in the lead role under director VA Shrikumar Menon, sparked significant debate in the Malayalam film industry when MT decided to cancel the project due to a contractual disagreement. The prolonged production delays ultimately led MT to withdraw from the contract through legal channels.

Now, MT's daughter, Ashwathy V Nair, has announced that Randamoozham will indeed be made into a film. She shared this announcement during a session titled 'Manorathangal' at the Kerala Literature Festival (KLF) held in Kozhikode. Ashwathy confirmed that the movie adaptation of Randamoozham will happen, and the official announcement is expected before March. She also mentioned that pre-production work would take about a year and a half following the announcement.

Ashwathy revealed that MT had already written all the necessary elements for the film, which is a significant advantage for any director. MT had a strong desire to see Randamoozham adapted into a movie, and Ashwathy believes it will now happen.

"My father had written some scripts for the film, which still exist today. Many people had also approached him in the past with the idea of adapting his novel Manju into a film. After reading some books, he would say that they have some cinematic material in them," Ashwathy said.
