Maid didn't get a response after repeatedly pressing the calling bell; Investigation starts in Vani Jayaram's death

CHENNAI: Police have started an investigation into the mysterious death of veteran singer Vani Jayaram. The singer was found lying dead inside her house in Nungambakkam, Chennai. Injuries to the forehead were reported. Her husband predeceased her three years ago and since that, the singer has been living alone in her Chennai home. The maid tried the calling bell in the early morning but failed a response from the singer. Anticipating in fear, the maid informed the singer's relatives who called the police to inform the same. When the police barged open the house, Vani Jayaram was lying down with injuries on her forehead. It is suspected that the singer might have fallen after a blackout and have directly banged on the table near her bed. The move to rush her to hospital fell in vain as the singer died midway through the journey. The dead body has been shifted to a hospital n Chennai for postmortem.
