THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pink police will also be on service in the museum area at night. The decision to start the 24-hour service comes after frequent reports of violence against women in the area. The decision was taken in the meeting of the district police chief held yesterday regarding the safety of women in the museum premises.

The commissioner said that the delay in reporting the violence against women is affecting the investigation. He said that all women should install ‘Nirbhaya’ application to ensure women safety. At the same time, the police have not been able to find the accused in the incident on the attack on a teacher near museum premises. Two men on a bike attacked the teacher who was returning at night after attending the Literary Festival at the museum. The incident took place at Museum Kanaka Nagar Road around 11.45 pm on Friday.

40-year-old Thrissur native suffered injuries on neck and face. The incident was reported in the control room and the museum station, but the police could not find the attackers. A case has been registered under IPC 354 and Intimidation IPC 509. The police have received some footage from the cameras in the police station area and Kanaka Nagar Road. A special team has been appointed led by Museum CI Manjulal.
