THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have not been able to find accused even after two days since the attack on the woman in Kanakakunnu. The investigation team is struggling to find the two attackers even after inspecting visuals from 20 cameras in Museum, Kanakakunnu roads.

The museum and its premises have old cameras without night vision system. Even though there have been many such incidents, including the attack on a doctor who was out for a morning ride, the police have not taken any steps to make the camera surveillance effective. Two people are seen traveling on a bike, but their faces are not clear. The camera footage collected by the police from Kanaka Nagar and the museum area was not clear enough to identify the accused. The investigation team wrote to the motor vehicle department to collect more clear footage, but MVD did not have a camera anywhere near the scene of the incident.

Although footage was collected from the residents' associations and business establishments in Kanaka Nagar and museum area, but no visuals could confirm the identity of attackers. With this, the investigation team decided to check the footage of more cameras.

The incident took place on Museum Kanaka Nagar Road around 11.45 pm on Friday. A native of Thrissur was on her way to her residence in Thampanoor after participating in the literary festival.

The incident took place when she was walking from the gate on Kanaka Nagar Road to the main entrance on the road near the police station. The two people accompanying women were a little ahead. Two people who came from the opposite direction attacked after turning off the lights of the bike. As her accomplices came running, the attackers fled towards Kanaka Nagar. The investigation team is checking the phone numbers of those who passed through the museum, Kanakakunnu and Kanaka Nagar areas during the incident with the help of cyber police. A special led by Museum CI Manjulal supervised by Commissioner CH Nagaraju is investigating the case.
