THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The entrance exam for engineering and pharmacy admission will be held on May 17. The first paper of Physics and Chemistry will be in the morning and the Mathematics II paper will be in the afternoon. There is no change in the syllabus and fee. The application fee for all courses is Rs 900 for General Category and Rs 400 for Scheduled Castes. There is no fee for those belonging to Scheduled Tribes.
The Prospectus Reforms Committee has recommended levying fees for option registration. This is on the pattern of option registration in All India Medical Quota to prevent unwanted option. It is recommended that this fee be allocated to the annual fee and refunded to those who did not receive the allotment. This may not be approved by the government. The requirement to present a certificate from the district medical board for differently abled reservations will also be avoided. Instead, an examination by the state medical board will be considered. There will be an amendment in the prospectus to change the vacant NRI quota seats from mop-up allotment to state merit.
Admission to medical courses such as MBBS and BDS is based on rank in the NEET exam. One seat will be allotted to NCC in Govt Medical College, Idukki.
