Dulquer Salmaan wins Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award for Best actor in a negative role

Actor Dulquer Salmaan has won the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award for Best Actor in a negative role. He won the award for his performance in 'Chup' which was released last year.

Dulquer acted in a negative role in the psycho thriller ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist. Danny, the character played by him was also critically acclaimed. The film is directed by Balki and Sunny Deol has also played a lead role. This is also Dulquer’s first award for his performance in Hindi. Dulquer shared his happiness on receiving the award through social media.

“This one felt special! My first ever award for Hindi. And my first ever for Best Actor in a negative role. Many thanks to the jury of for this honour DPIFF award and Abhishek Mishra for being such a kind host.

For some reason my old friend, my nerves got the better of me on stage and I blanked out like a first timer.

So the one person I truly need to thank for this is Balki sir. I dont know how he saw me as Danny but he did. And the conviction he had in me, his guidance and vision was everything for me. Thank you sir and all my wonderful co-stars, the best crew and everyone at Hope Productions for giving me the best experience on 'Chup'. This one is for all of you.”, DQ wrote on Instagram.
