Brothers held for stealing 2000 bottles of liquor from govt outlet

CHENNAI: Two brothers were arrested for stealing liquor from a government outlet. They committed the theft at a liquor shop in Eranil, Kanyakumari. Mangalaraj (38) and his brother Kannan (32), natives of Kayathar Amman Kovil Street were the two arrested.

They committed the theft after breaking the shutter of the outlet at Maniyankuzhi village. They stole 2000 liquor bottles and the DVR of the CCTV. They were arrested yesterday.

A similar incident happened in Wayanad the other day. A youth was arrested for stealing liquor from the Kalpetta outlet of Beverages Corporation. Rajendran (35), a native of Muttil, was arrested. He was caught while trying to smuggle alcohol inside his clothes. He was released later. However, when examined the CCTV, found him to be a regular thief. With this, the manager lodged a complaint with the police.
