THIRUVANANATHAPURAM: The finance ministry in Kerala has finally budged to distribute the welfare pension that was stalled for more than two months. The December month's pension will reach the beneficiaries soon as the distribution starts on Friday.
It was not an easy way for the government, as the payment is being made after taking loans from the cooperative consortium. The government asked for Rs 2000 crore but was rewarded just with money that will be ample enough to pay the welfare pensions overdue for the month of December.
With the state experiencing near debt-run finance, the government is making wiggle room to allay the long accusations directed at the arrears in the welfare pension scheme.
