KALPETTA: A tiger was found dead in a well at Poothadi in Wayanad. The dead animal was found in the well of Kalapurakkal Augustin (Kunchan) in Papallassery's Chunkam. The carcass is estimated to be two days old. The body was shifted to the vicinity of Forest Lab in Sultan Bathery. The carcass of a two-year-old female tiger was found. This area belongs to Chethalayam Forest Range. A post-mortem will be conducted on Monday under the direction of Dr. Arun Zacharia as per National Tiger Conservation Authority norms. The body was found in the well at around 4 pm on Sunday.

The body was found when the site of the well was inspected after the water could not be pumped from the well to the tank. It is believed that the tiger may have fallen into the well while running through the garden. The well is about 20 feet deep. The presence of tigers had been reported in this area for several months.
