32-year-old woman arrested for smuggling Rs 1 crore gold in her underwear

KARIPUR: A woman was arrested by Customs in Karipur airport for attempting to smuggle gold worth Rs 1 crore in her underwear. Asmabeevi (32) of Kandanplackil, in Narikkunni, Kozhikode was arrested. She hid 1.769 kg of gold in her underwear.

Asmabeevi, who arrived from Dubai on an Air India Express flight, was caught by Kozhikode Air Customs Intelligence officials. Two packets containing gold paste weighing 2031 grams were seized. 1.769 kg gold of 24-carat purity valued at Rs 99.68 lakh was recovered from the seized gold mixture.
