Paul Muthoot murder: CBI against order acquitting accused

kk

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has approached the Supreme Court against the High Court's order acquitting the eight accused in the Paul Muthoot murder case. SP Raghuramarajan of CBI Kochi unit submitted an affidavit on the petition filed by Paul George's family. The Supreme Court had earlier sent a notice to the CBI.

The CBI is arguing that the High Court erred in accepting the evidence against the accused. It also stated that the specific evidence regarding each accused's involvement in the murder had been presented in the High Court. The accused Jayachandran, Sathar, Sujith, Akash Sasidharan, Satish Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, Shino Paul and Faisal were released from jail after the High Court quashed the murder charge. Young businessman Paul M George was killed in August, 2009.
