Stiched surgical mop in stomach; four doctors suspended

EZHUKONE: Two doctors were suspended for making the bizarre mistake of stitching a surgical mop into the patient's stomach while operating for childbirth. Chinjuraj, a temporary nursing assistant at the ESI Ezhukone hospital fell for the cruel fate. The hospital conducted an internal investigation which found the gynecologists Dr. Dhanya and Dr. Anjana guilty. Nurses Sasindra and kala will also be punished by the hospital management. The assistant medical superintend Sushilkumar Murmu led the investigation and submitted the report to the ESI medical commissioner and zonal commissioner respectively.

According to the findings, Chinjuraj was forced into treatment. The gynecology department in the hospital is inept in carrying out a major operation such as childbirth. The rooms had no ventilation and were dimmed with feeble lighting. The doctors made quick arrangements without even taking assent from the department head. Chinjuraj is currently in treatment at Trivandrum and is said to be stable.
